The reliable answer still comes from the release transaction, booking/release sheet, or direct Sheriff confirmation for the identified county booking.
Check Ingham Three-Day Releases
Start with a precise window. A “72-hour” request can mean a rolling period counted backward from the current moment or three named calendar dates. Since Ingham County publishes neither definition, state the dates and, when time matters, the start and end times. The Ingham County 24-Hour Releases route is better when only today’s processing is at issue.
- Search the official locator by booked name and inmate number. A hit means the person is recorded as currently held.
- If there is no hit, call 517-676-2431, option 3, and provide the full name, birth date, and county inmate number if known.
- Give the exact three-day span. Ask whether county custody ended, the actual date and time, and the release type.
- Ask whether the exit was a community release or transfer to MDOC, another jail, a federal agency, or immigration custody.
- Use the court case number to review the relevant Ingham docket for bond, disposition, sentence, or commitment action.
- Request the existing booking/release sheet, transaction, or daily log entry when documentary proof is needed.
A person can move through more than one system during the same three-day span. Lansing or MSU police may make the arrest, Ingham County may hold the adult, and a court may then order release or commitment. One field rarely tells the full story. A release time without a destination does not distinguish going home from transfer. A court order without the jail transaction does not prove the time physical processing ended. A name without a date of birth or inmate number can match a different person. Read the identifiers, time, type, authority, and destination as a group.

A release authorized late in the day may still require identification checks, paperwork, property return, hold review, and a final physical exit. Those operational points make a three-day records check useful, but they do not establish a fixed weekend posting delay because Ingham County publishes no locator update cadence.

VINE can transmit after the source agency posts an event. A public screen may refresh on its own schedule. Label each time accurately and rely on the physical-release transaction when the exact jail exit is the question.
